A podiatrist can described as a foot and ankle specialist, foot doctor, or a foot and ankle surgeon. They undergo 4 years of extensive medical education with additional focus on the foot and ankle anatomy and issues related to them. Upon completing 4 years of education, they enroll in a 3-year foot and ankle residency to acquire hands-on skills for treating patients surgically and non-surgically.
